Received the latest electric bill for January and February.

Happy as it was lower than I had worked out.

The thing I did notice was that the bill was half at 9% VAT and the other half was at 19% VAT

I thought that I read VAT was going to be 9% (till June 22).

Has anyone got the answer to this please?

It does seem strange, especially as the January bill was charged at 9% VAT.
In March half is charged at 9% and the other half at 19%.
Still happy with the total amount due!

Same here. Similar dates to ast and 9% on everything.

Just to clarify the January bill covered the period 04 November 2021 to 03 January 2022.
The March Bill covered the period 04 January to 03 March 2022.

All the addons meant total bill ,€401... A steep increase, and I have PV installation and Geo Thermal u/ floor heating.... definitely a cold long winter....

Ours - (20/12 - 18/2) just says +9% vat

Goodness me David that is a large bill, especially as you have PV installation and Geo Thermal u/ floor heating...

20/12/21 to 1/3/22 = €26.75, no gas, no logs. All heating via new AC units as an experiment compared to electric underfloor heating. Given the weather we’ve had, a fantastic result.

Polemian...I assume that now you are using A/C's for heating , they are only on as and when you want?
With the Geo Thermal heating, it's stays on constantly, at the start of winter, the Villa stays at a constant 22/23degs.
Looking back at previous winter bills, the electricity usage is around normal...it's just Soo expensive now ..
More PV panels may be the answer.....

Yes. Weve found it more reactive and flexible than the underfloor heating, but I do not the cold floor more.

The living room has a 24k btu unit and has been used as and when required since around mid December., only needed it 3 or 4 times in the last week or so. The office 12k btu has been used all day for U.K. office hours by my wife on average 3 days per week since about the 5th December. Hardly bothered with it in the master bedroom. The PV installation is 12x 260w panels so 3.12MW producing on average 5000kw per annum over the last 5 years. Total consumption was 1085kw over the bill period.

The pool is on a separate off grid PV set up.

To end up with €400 bill, something must be using a hell of a lot of KWh? Ignoring the current discounts and reduced VAT, normally around 5 cents per KW if in credit or nearer 30 if use up all credit units. Without the discounts, this final bill of the year would have been €51.63. We ended up with a credit of 827kw compared to 1256 last year.

Hi Ian, have very similar set up here, pool is on separate PV system...
We had 1100 units in credit, used 1433 units over and above that....
On average, the u/ f geo Thermal heating has been using 9.5 kWh per day..
As an experiment, have just turned it off, and will use A/C as and when to compare...
