Yeah, Summer is here, BFBS just told Troodos temperature 23C - Nicosia 34C..... enjoy before it is getting really hot

Been in the pool once today already.

Proper blue sky today. Lovely. Been swimming in the pool since 9th April. Pool now a balmy 30 degrees, too warm really so will have to stop using the cover, but trying to use it more to save water by reducing evaporation.

Our pool is 24c at the moment, with no cover.

Make the most of it as the temps due to drop a bit later in the coming week & they're even forecasting some of that wet stuff for the end of it!

Two factors, assuming both pools are in direct sunlight most of the day:

1. Size of pool. Ours is 10 by 5, with a deep deep end. I don't know big Ian's is.

2. Presence of pool cover. We don't have one, Ian does.

Yes Dominic, that's why I mentioned it knowing that there is a pool cover installed in Ian's place. Of course with less water in the pool it heats up more fast. Another story will be the evaporation which is quite high with temperatures about 30C and low humidity. (ca. 1 cm/day)

Sorry for the late response, the pool is a tiled 8x4 with deep end about 1.80 - 1.90. The pool cover is by Geobubble. It's a balancing act using the cover - definitely saves water and as HIC says adds a lot of warmth for free - compared to neighbours with a similar pool and aspect I'd say about 6 degrees. The evaporation reduction also means less water going in via the auto topup valve so pool chemistry is more stable - haven't had to add any chems this year and it's nicely balanced. We have a salt water chlorinator so you have to to turn that down as the sun isn't burning off the Chlorine at the usual rate. I'm using this year as an experiment so have some 'data' for next year.
