PS: Do people really still fall for these?
The sad thing is HIC, I know two educated people who fell for a similar scam, both of them lost 15 grand each, which ended in both of them going to Amsterdam to pick up their share of the money????, lastly both were threatened with death and violence if they went to the Police.... so it seems people even educated ones do fall for these scams.

PS: Do people really still fall for these?
This is not a very sophisticated scam by todays standards. Similar to the Nigeria scam many years ago. The internet is a wonderful tool for those who commit these crimes but thankfully banks are now taking this seriously & implementing more & more safeguards. It's a pain in the arse to enter my internet banking but something I have to accept

With this sort of scam perhaps it is just greed that make some respond. Different situation but I wonder how many begging letters a lottery winner gets

Quite a lot , and most of them are from me,
