I understand that some women dream about and plan their ideal wedding day for years on end - but to have a make believe one all on your own just doesn't seem right to me:



I realise this particular lady has a terminal illness and for that, I do really feel for her - but it still feels wrong....

I haven't been one of those women who plans their wedding to the full - ours was a simple affair with at max around 10, getting spliced at Paphos Town Hall (a number of years ago now) and both me and my husband almost always forget the day when it arrives. We made the decision to get married in July and as we already had a 10 day holiday booked for Cyprus at the end of October we tagged our wedding onto it.

We got married on my Dad's birthday..... I always remembered it was his special day but ours always took a back seat. Of course, now there will be no more birthday celebrations for my Dad since we lost him last year.

Not weird in the slightest. She can't fulfil her dream so is doing the next best thing. Good luck to her.

Judging by the responses so far, it would seem that it IS only you who thinks what this young girl has done is weird.

I personally think it is very sweet and lovely to do this photo shoot, she won't be able to live her dream so why not! It is also so nice to have her hair and make up done and to leave behind some stunning photos of her for her family to remember her by.

Sorry, I'm with Photolady on this. A wedding is a meaningful marriage of two people, not a photo shoot. Much as I feel for the circumstances of this lady and admire the beautiful photos, a wedding it is not.

I'm sure her family and friends will treasure the pics after she has gone, but they would do exactly the same without the wedding tag added on.

I honestly cannot comprehend why anybody would possibly want to begrudge her actions. She isn't claiming to be married. She said she wanted it to be like a real wedding.

Admit that this idea of getting all dressed up to get married with no one to share it with seems very odd to me too. But as the French say 'Chaque un de son gout' (Each to his/her own') which kind of sums it up.
Getting dressed up in some beautiful clothes, with a hair do and special make up would also produce some lovely, and memorable photos for her family and friends to remember her by...

Sorry, I don't begrudge her actions, that's not what I said. It can never remotely be a wedding. So getting dressed up, having pics taken......no probs. But why the wedding tag? It simply isn't. Beautiful pics, yes which her family will quite rightly treasure. Marriage it's not.

Ronk, if my daughter organised some beautiful pics before she died I would treasure them like the Crown Jewels, I wouldn't need the pseudo wedding tag to make them meaningful.

Sad that some people have got to find fault, with what this beautiful girl wants to do....shame.

I'm with Jules really - it's a bit weird to me, but hey ho, the world is full of strange folks, including me so if that's what floats her boat let her get on with it!

It's not only me then.... that's good to know.
