Hi, our friend in Paphos has a few issues with his car ! Is there any garages in the Paphos area has a HHO carbon cleaning machine he can try first before getting someone to start to strip his engine. He was told it was something to do with Carbon build up in the inlet flaps and needs stripping down to be cleaned about 3 hrs work to do. I know in the UK you can get your car HHO carbon cleaned for around £70 this would be a cheaper option for them.

Do you mean spraying water into the inlet manifold...?

I've never seen any evidence that spraying anything into the engine (proprietary fluids, water, ATF, etc.) will have any significant effects on carbon build up.

Do engines really need a 'de coke' these days? I thought it was caused by using leaded petrol, which, of course, hasn't been available for years. I've not been concerned about carbon build up since I sold my Singer Gazelle

when you say inlet flaps, I assume that you mean "inlet valves". I think that your friend needs to get a second opinion from another mechanic before going ahead with any work.

Are we talking 'TerraClean' here, as fan-fared by Edd China on "Wheeler Dealers" a year or so ago? On a Jag XK8 if I remember correctly?

Thanks all found someone in Paphos that can do the work. I had this done to our car just before Christmas and it works. I was watching this chap clean my engine and lots of black soot came out and after i had notice more power less fuel it just seems to drive better. Don't think its water that is put in your air intake its hydro gas from what i understand

PaphosAL, not sure of the name but the machine looks the same though.

I had my van done back in Oct 16 and when i done another trip to Turin which normally cost me in fuel 400€ return trip i still had 50€ left over so it did save me some money i also notice i did not have to stop at my usual petrol station i could make it on to the next one, my van seems to run better also it seems more responsive. I would recommend having your car or van done it will save you money in the long run.

You can buy these carbon cleaning machines really cheap now on Ebay so if you have a fleet of cars or vans it would be worth your while buying one to cut down on your fuel cost . The cheapest i seen is £1200 on Ebay
