Wouldn't help me even if I could talk to my car , it's Japanese! Seriously though for what purpose do people want to connect to their cars ?
If you read the article "The Tesla app is used as a key by drivers to unlock and start their cars. "

To a technophobe like me this seems a step too far . Total reliance on an app. Give me the provision of a car key plus using the car's fob to activate central unlocking.
Do we need to transfer everything to a smart phone? Mine recently had a glitch and needed a visit to a handy phone shop to fix it.
With total reliance on an app, I couldn't have started my car!

Do we need to transfer everything to a smart phone?
I agree entirely! As far as smartphones are concerned, I'm a Luddite and will remain so. As an example, if I wish to pay a bill on my computer, I have to type in my banking software two separate numbers for initial identification. I then have to consult my telephone to get a third number which I then have to read and then type it into the computer. Hopefully, this gets me into the system, where I have to type in which account number I wish to use. With a bit of luck, I can then proceed with the transfer. At the end of this, I have to read another number on the telephone and type it in on the computer. At least once out of three transfers, and then have to start again. Grrrrrr!
I am hovering towards my 90th birthday in a few months and I used to be techie savvy (to the extent of programming complex software) so, despite my age, I don't consider that I'm a total techie plouc. That having been said, I would dearly love to have everything that my mobile telephone would do crushed by a steamroller. For many years, I used a Nokia mobile telephone very happily. I rue the day that I had to abandon it in favour of something more "smart". A telephone is not a real medium to enjoy watching Eastenders, to take photographs or to look up the meaning of 'plouc'

As an oldie myself I also struggle with some modern tech but when younger I embraced it. Says it all really. Daughter for example chides me for my 2 finger keyboard method. She bought me a smart phone a few years ago & I thought brilliant & tried the various apps very quickly. I started with £20 in credit but next day it was 89p
Did you remember to turn of the apps before moving to the next one? The answer to me was very simple. My brain is no longer able to keep pace in this fast moving world so rely on the younger generation not to teach me because I would forget but help me out of trouble. I would question the word SMART in todays Tech speak. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely
Recently my small town installed smart parking meters. Lady in front was having trouble with her smart phone but refused to give up. I noticed you could pay with coins so suggested I tried with coins. Bingo
