Yellow warning issued for high winds on Wednesday

The Met service has issued a warning for gale force winds on Wednesday, which are expected to affect the eastern part of the island.The warning concerns the hours between 9am and 4pm.The service said near gale to gale north to north-easterly winds (force six to seven) are expected to affect windward areas in the eastern part of the island....

Yes,but according to weather forecasts, the gales are likely to affect the east coast of Cyprus.
Not expected to be so strong here...

We've just returned from Limassol, close to MacDonalds. It's blowing hard there and the dust is pretty awful.

It's blowing quite hard in Peyia at the moment and a lot of dust.

We could see a bank of dust coming in to Paphos from the sea earlier today, at around 4PM. It was quite eerie.

Wind has picked up in Polemi too. Hatches are being battened down, and all that.

Walked along the sea front from the Lighthouse Beach to the harbour about 3.00. Windy but a really enjoyable walk

Where I was in Chloraka,yesterday it was actually more windy in the morning, by the middle of the afternoon wind had pretty much died.. Certainly not gale force.
As someone who has been present before , during and after various typhoons while living in Hong Kong, the winds in Cyprus generally are much more moderate..
Yes, there are and have been some severe gales here, but they usually fall in Jan/Feb in winter, but not every year...
