Coastal Paphos is getting greener and greener now that two linear parks plus a municipal one and the renovation of ‘Dasoudi’ are on the cards, Philenews reported on Monday.

The under-construction “Municipal Park of Colours” has a total cost of €3,715,180 and is expected to be read within nine months.

This park covers an area of 32,000 sq.m. and will be the “richest” in Cyprus both in terms of greenery and infrastructure, according to a Municipality announcement.

The park will include designated gathering places, a playground, a cafeteria, a tennis court, a basketball court, a small soccer field, locker rooms, a skateboard area and a climbing wall of 3-6 metres.

Plus, a management office and information centre, an aromatic-botanical garden, sanitary facilities and 83 parking spaces for the public and the disabled.

In the meantime, final construction plans for the two linear parks are also ready. These will be in an area of more than twelve kilometers in the eastern and western borders of the Municipality of Paphos.

Brilliant. All towns need lots of trees to clean the air ! Vienna is a very good example of a town with very clean air due to all those beautiful parks.

New parks full of new trees will be welcome, but it sounds as if they are very much general purpose, with a number of buildings and welcome sports facilities, plus 'gathering spaces'.
A botanical garden is mentioned. I hope that there will be enough spaces left to have some open grassy areas..or will the parks have hard surfaces instead? Will the sports facilities be maintained and supervised? Hopefully they won't be vandalised.
Cheltenham also has a number of parks and lots of lovely old trees and shrubs, and there are paths to walk on. In one I sometimes walk in, there are two lakes with fish and a swan family. Plus a lovely kids playground with swings solid wood is used for slides, a zip wire, a tower with a chute to slide down and numerous other things to play on for different ages, grassy areas which blend into the rural feel of the park.. There is also a sports centre but that is seperate to the park.
