Question about overseas parcels

Hi all, I received an email from Cyprus Post saying a package had arrived for me and I needed to log in to their website to find out if anything was payable or if more documents were needed.
I signed up and logged in and upon finding that I needed to make a payment (only €4.10) I followed the link to JCC and paid. I have received confirmation that my payment was received
BUT, my question now is,
Will the parcel now be automatically delivered to me OR, will I still need to find out which post office it is at and go to collect it myself?
Has anyone else on this forum have experience of this situation please? The Cyprus Post website just said payment received and gives no further help

My daughter in Switzerland recently sent me a package as a private individual. As it was not commercial, there was no invoice or value given. I learned today that it is now at Larnaca post office and I have to pay €100 in order to go to the post office and pick up the parcel. I complained that it came from a Schengen country with the same customs regulations as the rest of Europe, but nothing doing: they wanted my money. It seems that they are entitled to make arbitrary decisions according to the colour of your eyes or some such.

Complain to their bosses.
Mind you, what was the package? If it was something that she ordered from China and is posting on to you, then there will be duty to pay.

Hi Galini
Had the same thing about 4 or so weeks ago. Logged in , but at that time payment could not be made via JCC. So I went to the PO in Paphos near the General hospital. A clerk there told me the parcel was in Nicosia. I went home and waited for another notification telling me the parcel was in paphos. But such a notification never came . Went back to PO again (pehaps 2 weeks later) and the parcel was there. Paid the clerk the duty.
All in all a real nuisance and it took forever to get my hands on this parcel. Good job it wasnt anything I needed urgently.

From these accounts of the difficulties and sometimes the expense involved in collecting a parcel, Makes me wonder what on earth is going on within Cyprus post?
I understood that there are difficulties concerning delivery of parcels from the UK, but surely this shouldn't affect parcels coming from other EU / Schengen countries?
Is Cyprus Post a law unto itself, anyone know the answer?

Perhaps if you directed your question to the Post Office you might get an answer? I wouldn't hold your breath...

As of 1 July the customs rules have changed throughout the EU. E.g. in Germany the threshold for the value of customs-free shipping from outside the EU (or EEA, not sure) has been lowered to € 5,23 and DHL has introduced a handling charge of € 6. Maybe Cyprus has done something similar?
