A 29-year-old man who was refusing to show a SafePass at a customer service centre of the electricity authority in Paphos, was arrested, police said on Thursday.
The authorities said they received a complaint about a customer who had gone to the EAC offices on Wednesday but was refusing to adhere to coronavirus protocols.
Officers arrived at the customer service centre and found he was not abiding by social distancing rules and was not wearing his face mask properly. He had also refused to provide the establishment with a SafePass.
The man was arrested after he refused to give his personal details to the police and started causing disturbance in a public place.
He was charged in writing and released pending his court appearance.

We went out for a meal last night, as soon as we sat down a lovely smiling young waitress welcomed us, and politely asked if we would show her our passes, which we did, soon after a man in his fifties with his wife sat at the next table to us, again the young waitress welcomed them and asked to see their passes, then in a loud surly manner, told the girl, who are you to demand our passes etc, this is a free country and we are not sheep etc, the girl a bit shaken told them it was the law etc, still they wouldn't show their passes, meanwhile the owner comes out and tells them, no passes, then they would have to leave, the prat then pulls his paper pass out of his pocket and waves it in the air, happy now, the owner now getting angry says, kindly leave my restaurant, we are not serving you, the prat then gets up followed by his wife and walks out, as he does he swears at the top of his voice at everyone in the restaurant, we all then in turn start clapping and cheering, man it felt good to see this idiot leave with his tail between his legs.

While we were down at Corallia Beach there was a loud obnoxious old bat waffling on at the top of her voice about how it was all an agenda and she wouldn't have a vaccine etc. Unfortunately her thick northern accent made her easily identifiable as British.

I can never understand people who adopt that attitude particularly when a) they know it's the law, and b) they have the required documents with them anyway
What have they to gain other than making a spectacle of themselves, as we say in Scotland, eejits.
I remember a taxi driver refusing to show me his taxi badge saying he'd left it at home. Given that he'd already failed the attitude test anyway, I told him he couldn't operate until he picked it up and displayed it correctly in his vehicle. At that he produced it from the glovebox, shoved it in my face and said "happy now"
He ended up off the road anyway and facing 12-15 charges relating to minor road traffic offences and regulations relating to his taxi licence, (including not wearing a tie).
He also faced a visit to the local authority licencing board, to explain himself.
If only he'd accepted the advice I'd originally offered in the first place.
Some people never learn.

To be honest with you, when he started to shout at the young waitress, I was half way out of my seat to tell him to back off, I saw the owner come out, so I sat down, some people are just wired to be W*****s.

I'm a Northerner myself, however, in this case Dominic, I think 'thick' is about right.
