Hi,

I'm looking for some ready made curtains does anyone know where in Paphos I could buy some please or failing that a person who makes up curtains.

Jill used to have a shop, but now works from home (Dimitri Konstantinou, off Priamou). I don't know the house number, but it should be dead easy to find, as her 4x4 is sign-written.

Yes she did, a couple of years ago. She is missed, she was excellent and there is many a house in Pafos with her lovely workmanship.

Or order from John Lewis who have a good selection. Delivery cost on a large patio door sized pair of lined curtains is £7.50.

Hi Old Friends.

I got a call today from a member on Paphoslife who is my neighbour here in UK.
He remembered I had posted 2 years ago on CL to say I had Left Cyprus.
Well at last I feel I am where I should be. ..Gateshead. ..not everyone's cup of tea but I am happy at laSt. I am now single !
I took on my old workshop which I had 30 years ago www.curtainworkshopteamvalley.co. UK that was a coincidence being up for rent. I have a few of my own customers but do a lot of work around the North East...posh places for 2 shops. Today I have just finished a big house in Morpeth with a massive swimming pool.
Just a few days before the workshop came up I got a job at Tesco in gateshead.3 nights...nightshift on F&F clothing. This then was a bit of security to pay my workshop rent. 2 years down the line I'm still doing both jobs but have managed to drop a night which gives me more time to do what I love. I got a mortgage on the strength of Tesco work and have a little flat which I am doing up.
My daughters are here with me..all working. Just wanted to say Hi and I can ship curtains over or make for you in UK.
Enjoy your sunshine .I prefer the weather here...25 years was a long time. I met some lovely people there. Hope you are all well.

A smashing update thanks, Jill, and I'm really glad that you've found your feet again back in the UK!

How do I know of you, when we've never met, you may wonder? Easy! When I used to stay in Kellys Dream (Priamou St, where you have that strange dual carriageway section with pine trees down the middle, but only a single lane either side), I used to kip in the back bedroom. Which funnily enough, overlooked your house in Dimitri Konstantinou, which I remember your sign-written 4x4 outside from!

Until they started building (or rather, squeezing) that hideous block of flats in between us!

Jill, if you are still making your famous curtains in the UK, not to mention your willingness to SHIP them to your bespoke clients in Paphos, then please provide your contact details here on Paphos Life in the appropriate section? I don't think for one minute that Dominic would object to a true craftswoman such as yourself helping other members!

ps: my first job at Priamou St was always to grab a few carrier bags from the kitchen, then spend a couple of hours picking up litter from the central pine tree strip, thrown out of passing cars in both directions, then popping them in the large communal bin outside in the street, enptied by the Council every Tuesday morning.

I used to get strange looks from passing motorists, but I didn't give a damn. End result made my efforts worthwhile, I thought. But in a two week stay, I found myself repeating this exercise every other day... Mainly drinks cans, empty cigarette packets, water bottles and suchlike. ALL of which are green bin recyclable items here in UK! What is it with the Cypriot mentality that doesn't quite register with despoiling their beautiful island with litter, like this?

Yes. Have a look at this link to the John Lewis website. Scroll down and it shows you the International delivery charge for EU countries - in this case £7.50. Now that weather in the UK you are more than welcome to that.

We got some last year from Next online. They where delivered in three days without charge. We had to pick them up at a parcel service office in Paphos. Excellent service.

Thanks Jeanne, there's a couple of JL dose by so will go and visit over the weekend.

House of Fraser also deliver to Cyprus...Zara had ready made curtains last time I was in there, in the Mall, also some great sale sheets!
