Famagusta, or more likely Ayia Napa, isn’t looking too good!

If only everyone would wear masks, adopt social distancing in places like coffee bars, bars and in restaurants and refrain from holding large gatherings where no protocols are practiced.
The number of cases of Covid virus are escalating now on a daily basis.
Yet a section of the population would appear to be irresponsible, including some of those who are unvaccinated.
Yet, the economy here badly needs tourists and all holiday makers to fill the hotels and restaurants and to give much needed revenue..
Yet, Cyprus isn't going to feature on many countries 'green' list of where their citizens can go on holiday as long as we havd a high number of cases of Delta.
Time that more people opened their eyes and tried to assist in reducing the infection rate in Cyprus.

Unfortunately, there's those wearing a mask correctly so that it fits and covers the mouth, nose, sides of the face and chin - then there are those who are "wearing" them because it's protocol but not adhering to the correct fitting procedures.
From what I've seen around and about in UK and on our recent travels, the stretchy washable type ones favoured by the younger generations and those older ones who want a prettier looking mask, does show these masks fit the face correctly. Whether they do the job is yet to materialise.
The blue disposable masks however, tend to be worn by the majority of the elderly folk or those who aren't out and about all the time and these masks are also provided at the entrance to the hospitals.
They are poorly fitting, leave gaps everywhere, not many use the pinchable fitting bar either so they end up dangling under the nose and chin.
I have thick and solid kind of disposable masks as well as washable ones. I wear the thick ones when I have to go to the hospital with my mum for her appointments and yet they ask me to switch to the blue paper ones which are far too big for my face and the fibres make me wheeze.
I'm fed up of arguing about it with the door staff since February so now I just take the blue mask but pop it in my pocket. Our hospital appointments can last for up to 3 hours on most occasions and they are coming around every couple of weeks.
My wheezing from the blue masks can last between 4 to 6 weeks, so I will wear what is better for my own health on these occasions.
For me, the jury is still out on face masks. If there is a type which can be worn correctly by everyone and is fit for the purpose then these should be the only ones available to the general public.
Instead, the market is flooded with various kinds including mass produced paper ones and homemade washable ones being sold over the internet on Etsy sites etc as well as other washable mass produced in all manner of colours and designs to appeal to everyone.
Who is to say which of these are providing any kind of real protection for the wearer and for those people around them? If one is correct, ban the use of all others.

Happy with the protection my face mask gives me and likewise the strict precautions we continue to follow eg hand sanitising, cleaning of public areas where our hands-forearms may come in contact, cleaning shopping purchases etc, social distancing..... routine after all this time!
The possession of a vaccination certificate doesn't mean people stop doing the above.
However, stopped worrying about other people months ago, especially as so many couldn't care less about the effect their behaviour has on others.

Yes, think you're right. My sister lives in NSW, Australia. They are in full lockdown mode where she lives. Though to date they only have 30 cases. In fact she tells me that all the state's in Oz have individually closed their state borders to each other. The country is still very short of vaccine, and is awaiting delivery of Pfizer vaccine in order to vaccinate their under 40's aged population.
They are also severely limiting the number of arrivals of Australian expats world wide to their mother country. She can't leave to travel any where and her son is unable to travel to Sydney even to see his father, who is in very poor health.
