The road from the Mall to the Harbour is now open both ways. Seems it has been closed for a long time for very little result.

Thanks for that update. It's been closed for a long while and has been a pain in the butt

Maybe if we are lucky it is just back to Tarmac.

....and would probably have been much cheaper.

I'm just glad it's finally open. It's been a bit of a pain taking the detour. Still, worse things in life!

It is not a stupid question at all.. I assumed it was to denote the entrance to a special area. But really it is a needless expense

I have been there today. Not open all the way down, diversion again, but coming back it is open all the way to the mall. There is still a section at the very bottom about 5 meters or so, that is still being worked on.

So you cannot drive down to Paps store at the harbour ?

yes but you have to come in from the other side. Who knows though? It could change day to day.

I think to act as traffic calming for what will be the area where the access to the raised walkway will be - in anticipation of a fair amount of people using it when completed I guess.

Far better to have used tarmac for the raised section as has been done in many other areas.
