A fire broke out at Wednesday at noon near the village of Akoursos in Paphos.According to Andreas Kettis, spokesman of the Fire Service, the fire started from some dry weeds near some houses which have been protected....

My sister has a house there.

No idea. I saw a fair bit of smoke driving back from Paphos, but that was it.

Sadly I can say that in our little area there are loads of roadside weeds as late Spring weed spraying was not done this year..
The dry weeds at the side of our track look like straw over 3 foot high..

I have checked that our pressurised fire fighting hose is working alright, as we have had to use it next to the house before.

I read in the press article that the fire started from some dry weeds near houses.

who is responsible for dealing with these weeds?

is it the municipality?

I believe the Municipality (or most of them) spray the weeds when they are just starting to prevent loads of dry undergrowth
