Had a booking for a resturant this coming Saturday, the resturant manager just called me and told me, that the government have told them, all resturants will be closed from this Saturday, and he was calling all his customers to this effect......nothing official yet, but I dont think he would be turning customer's away if it wasnt true.

It wouldn't surprise me restaurants closing and Cyprus going into lockdown again, situation getting out of hand, trouble is all these people have had their vaccinations and think they can't catch or pass Covid on ,God knows what will happen to the Covid numbers after the Cypriot Easter!

Your probably right WHL, I just hope the government don't just try and please businesses at the expense of the general public,I fully realize that it's been very tough for most businesses but if Covid gets out of hand then we are all in the shit with a lot more places shutting down due to people being not visiting these establishments,it's not just the hotels it's all the other businesses large and small

Some smaller businesses in my area have been saying it would suit them to stop having outside dining areas open due to the limited number of clients they can have at any one time. Open for longer hours, the overheads are higher.

I would like to see the evidence that the spike in cases is being caused by Restaurants and Bars. Every one I have been in has religiously stuck to the governments guidelines of distancing, hygiene etc.

I feel so desperately sorry for the business owners. I canβt begin to imagine how they are coping.

I know some have said they would not reopen just for outside as it was not worth it. But they would do takeaway.. Then as some others started serving outside, others followed.. So now they have just started back into the weekly idea of buying in food, cooking it and selling it. It will certainly be hard if the 'clamp down' comes with very little notice. If restaurants have to close when they have just bought in food and drink that is very hard on them..

Agree, stats on the types of places that are generating positives is potentially far more useful than just telling us how many in a whole geographic district.

But at the moment, more and more Covid Patients are being admitted to Hospital wards than ever before..
People with operations and hospital appointments are having them cancelled, so more and more patients (Non Covid) are really suffering.. It is little help telling them that they can remain indoors wrapped in cotton wool if that is what they want to do..

Maybe it depends on the amount of open space outside that the restaurant has?
The one which we booked has plenty of space. Though presumably their tables will be well spaced out now.. We have been to 3 different ones over the last few weeks, and all were observing all the health protocols very carefully.

Paws have cancelled their next quiz session at Gustos on 27th on police advice and when I was looking online for offers at Lidl next week, no non food items magazine there. Lockdown coming again I think

I looked too, and no offers leaflet for non-food, but in the shop there were plenty of offers yesterday. Lucky I went.

The only way out of this is vaccines. In the UK, we have gone from 'pandemic' to 'endemic' even with relaxations etc. IMHO the foil hat wearers and anti-vaxxers on widely used social media, are winning their war against vaccination, which is really sad for the economic future of Cyprus in the short term.

As a culture they do seem to be against vaccines of any kind
