Council were doing a grand job of removing the graffiti from along the sea front this morning. Lovely pristine surfaces for the morons to spray again.

I never understood why road signs are sprayed with graffiti here, and the country tolerates it. We all get used to it and stop seeing it, but when I first arrived I was shocked. Vandalized road signs make the place look like a dump. Bad impression for visitors. Someone told me that young men called up for military service do it.....some sort of ritual?

I'd heard the military motif too, though it doesn't apply to football slogans.

I still find it weird that football supporters who speak Greek use ACAB as one of their slogans, which is a very British mnemonic.

The country dosnt tolerate it, please suggest to us what a country can do to stop it, short of putting a CCTV camera, pointing at every road sign, you will never catch these morons, thats why these morons continue to do it, they know the chances of being caught are zero to none,

True, one cannot catch them in the act. But I have never heard a Cypriot object to it. And I have never seen so many vandalized signs in other countries I have visited.

If graffiti is in the DNA here, I'm wondering if their energies could just be diverted somewhere else. Maybe erect a huge blank board in a field. Make it a graffiti contest between the youth of different villages or football teams or whatever. Winning village gets a prize of some kind. Photos in the paper. I don't know. Maybe this seems silly. But forbidding things that cannot or will not be policed will not work here. And the authorities should try something to address this.

Graffiti is only in the DNA of the Morons that carry it out, as for you, never hearing a Cypriot object to it, maybe you should get out more and speak to more Cypriots, I for one have heard them complain about these Idiots, on more then one occasion. it could also be that they dont have the Whinging gene, others do?

Just had a thought, back in the UK you can go to any town center, and the majority will be covered in Graffiti, everytown center is covered by private CCTV and by council and Police CCTV, that hasnt stopped it, has it?
