Government's latest announcement: SMS service to remain for time being, with increased range of allowed activities. Plus movement on school activities. Restaurants hopefully re-open on 16th.

I'm really surprised at how early restrictions are lifting.

In particular the high number of cases in Limassol would appear to have been ignored.

Friends with a restaurant are equally surprised, they did not expect to open till April at the earliest.

I am surprised that the 9pm curfew will still be on when the restaurants reopen

The cumulative impact across Cyprus is still above the safe limit set by the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC), at 164.3 per 100,000 inhabitants, a slight decrease compared to the previous fortnight,” he said. The minister pointed out, however, that the situation in Limassol “although improved, remains at a critical point, which can easily worsen.” So says the Minister while relaxing restrictions further , especially for inside activities even in Limassol. There is little point in saying that in rooms over 200 cubic metres 5 people can gather if the 5 sit together less than 1.5 metres apart from each other. Let’s say social distancing has not been a strongpoint in Cyprus’s battle with the virus and the correct wearing of masks especially inside has been shall we say fragmented at best. Surely , especially with cases not going down, you relax outside like every other country in the EU and then start to look at what you can relax inside. We seem to be doing the reverse unfortunately .

Part of the reason for the increasing number of Covid infections is the outbreak of cases found in two Limassol primary schools. Cases include both teachers and students.
Makes you wonder if the teachers at these schools have had the positive antigen tests, which they should have done.
Seems to be a real problem now in Limassol, yet the Govt seems disinclined to bring in stronger lockdown measures in that town.

I can´t understand why they don´t make at least FFP2 masks mandatory when indoors. And teach people how to wear them properly. In Germany (where they are mandatory) the cost has come down to about €1 (I saw specials for €0,58). On the other hand you have to praise them for making rapid tests so easily available.

As of today, Saturday, all teachers and pupils in Limassol schools have to be tested weekly.

You see, the Cyprus government noted your criticism and acted on it ;)
