I was invited today from Cypriots to their BBQ party in the countryside and took my camera for some pics as the weather was quite pleasant.

Image

Young and old discuss politics after Turkey's referendum having a frappe to start with.

Image

while other visitors arrive with their dogs..

Image

BBQ in full swing since more than 1 hour..

Image

and if you could smell it.... jummy and this view with it

Image

Buffet is open with lamb and chicken, sausages (my present) home made bread, olives, kapari, village salad, onions, beans...

Image

side dishes like moussaka, pastichio, potatoes fourno, rice, mushrooms on this side of the table

Image

Finally nearly everybody sits at the table, separated of course men and woman/children, some girls are still in the kitchen to bring more food...

Image

As the tommy is full there is time to play with the children using the Easter ball until there is more space to eat the sweet dessert

Image

Here we are with very nice caramela, fruit cakes, Baklava, while the women are already in the kitchen to tidy up and eat the cake there....

Image

It was the best Baklava I had since the early 70th at Kyrenia...

Image

For him it was enough with sweets... there was something he enjoyed more...

Image

Finally: who is the winner? It was her and she knew it!

Lovely pics, thanks.

When we were on our Easter Egg hunt we stopped off at the old picnic area below Episkopi. We were surprised and pleased to see it was fairly busy with Cypriots having a BBQ.

It is the highest point of Letymbou and ever so green at the moment...

Don't be surprised. The excellent picnic site facilities throughout Paphos are always busy on holidays and weekends.

Yes I know. However, the ones below Episkopi look all but abandoned usually. The swings there are rotten, and it is very overgrown.

Possibly a locally maintained one rather than a Forestry Commission one.

I think you are missing my point. I wasn't angry at the condition of Cypriot picnic sites. On the whole they are excellent. I was saying I was pleasantly surprised to note that a picnic site I had in the past considered abandoned was in fact still used by the locals.

Dominic I understand that completely and I was not missing your point in your last post. I was responding to your last post to suggest an explanation for the condition you noted. Read it again!

Nice pics of a typical Cypriot family get-together and souvla. Those desserts look fabulous!
Image

This one Lloyd was my second favorite next to Baklava, shortbread base, on top a cream with the consistence of mascarpone and finished with sweet sour fruits.... I have a very sweet tooth and they gave me a doggy bag of it which I am finishing now with a nice cuppa.
