Coronavirus: Slight relaxation of measures for Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve

Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou on Tuesday announced slight tweaks to coronavirus measures that would allow people to be out on Christmas Eve until 11pm and New Year???s Eve till 1am but the current measures will be extended until January 10.The minister said after a cabinet meeting that the epidemiological outlook is still bad, so no relaxations are advised for now....

So on the 24th and 31st you can go out later but not to any bars etc?

You could invite 9 other people to your house and celebrate with them. As everything else is closed there aren’t many other options!

Quite a pointless relaxation for the sake of a roast dinner etc.

The only relaxation is a change of a few hours on the curfew time so I don’t think that would much affect the roast dinner (which most Cypriot families would eat around 1pm anyway). The change is to allow 2 hours extra time with family (or your friends up to 10) on Christmas Day and 4 hours extra to see the new year in with family on New Year’s Eve. I for one am grateful for it.
