Exchanging Driving Licences

Exchanging Driving Licences ... today’s latest news.

We went to the Transport Department today and this is what we found. Firstly the documents required include (if you are married) both your original marriage certificate and an affidavit from the Paphos District Court if (as seems to happen) the wife does not have a utilities bill in her name.

We had a 10.00 appointment but things were running about thirty minutes behind time. A number of British expats were turned away because they did not have the documents mentioned above.

The department is open from 08.30 to 11.30 but once again closed by 11.00. We were in and out within ten minutes, with everything stamped and sorted. The poor guy doing the admin was under enormous pressure from agents and people trying to jump the queue.

Third country nationals were being pushed from pillar to post - especially those who wanted to apply for “learner licences”. We were treated respectfully and felt sorry for those who were not treated in the same way.

It must be very frustrating for the staff there when people don’t bring the correct documents time and time again.
When we were obtaining our MEU3 a gentleman (loosely called) didn’t have the documents on the list, and thought it totally acceptable that he brought his hospital records as evidence of living in Cyprus for over 5 yrs. He was vile to the staff as they wouldn’t accept these as evidence, some of the government staff have a negative attitude, but I find if you take what is required and are polite, then you are treated with respect 😊

MacManiac,
Quick question did you get your driving licence changed?, if so how long did you have to wait to get it.

I received the temporary licences a couple of days after my appointment at the Department of Transport. Plastic licences have arrived in Paphos but cannot be picked up because of lockdown. No doubt in the fullness of time ...

Well the things you didn’t know that you didn’t know. I am from the East Sussex coast and have never heard of these pies.

Pukka pies are from Leicester and are very very nice. Not cheap, but they do actually contain meat.

Picked up my new licence this morning, three weeks to the day of application.

Always liked Sayers Cornish Pastie and Sausage Rolls, to die for. Seem they've been bought out by Greggs.
