As part of an ongoing effort to improve the tourist product in Cyprus, the deputy ministry of tourism announced it will start upgrading infrastructure in mountainous areas.
The plan, which will be carried out in cooperation with the forestry department, will involve the upgrade of rest areas and the construction of bike shelters in several locations around the island.
Moreover, some nature trails, such as those in Madari, Chorteri, Kyparissia and Lazania, near Machairas Monastery, will also undergo a revamp, with better and newer tables, benches and trash cans installed along the routes.
The upgrade falls under the framework of a bigger plan laid out by the deputy ministry of tourism a few months ago setting long and short-time goals to improve domestic tourism by 2030.
