He is on Google maps although the position is a few yards to the right of his actual premises

We have just been for the first time to A Gioergiou above Bionic on Hellados ave. Entrance is on the left hand side. He has just joined GESY so you can get a referral from your Dr or go private. His equipment is bang up to date, no looking in a box and getting air blown into your eye! Office is immaculate too! 26910110.

I used Maria Papadopoulou at the Iasis - 26 848484- for my cataract removal and found her first class.

Read on line that five Cataract patients in Nicosia lost an eye having the removal operation, rather alarming for those like myself who have this problem.
https://cyprus-mail.com/2020/10/23/five ... -disaster/
From web page..
Five patients have each had to have one of their eyes removed after being infected during cataract surgery at Apollonion hospital, it emerged on Friday.
One of those patients, who also has underlying health conditions, was removed to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Nicosia general hospital early on Friday.
“We had to do a corrective procedure on five of the patients on Thursday, to prevent the infection from spreading to their brain,” the ophthalmologist under whose care they are, Theodoros Potamitis told the Cyprus Mail.
The life of those patients was at risk, as the infection could damage their brain functions, risking their lives, the ophthalmologist said.
The patients and their families were initially very upset, he said, but they were grateful that there was a way of stopping their pain and prevent further damage to their health. All patients can see ‘pretty well’ with their remaining eye, their doctor added.
“The patients have been through a lot these days. Removing their eye was a relief to them and their families,” Potamitis added.
The five were among the eight patients who were infected with pseudomonas endophthalmitis infection, antibiotic resistant bacteria that lives in the back of the eye and damages the nerve tissue. The eight are being treated in the Makarios and Nicosia public hospitals after they were infected during eye surgery last Tuesday.
Potamitis, who is the clinical director of Pantheo eye centre in Limassol and the doctor who performed corrective surgery to most of the patients, has been visiting them in Nicosia on a daily basis, as Pantheo does not provide inpatient care.
According to the doctor the next 24 hours are critical to determine the state of the patients, but their doctor is hopeful that the procedure was successful, and they will not face any further complications.
On a very slightly more positive note, one of the three remaining patients, who received two additional surgeries after the initial one at Apollonion caused her the infection, started to improve on Friday.
“She got 20 per cent of her vision back, while the two other patients have about 25 per cent of their vision at this stage,” Potamitis said. This means that the three patients have lost approximately 80 per cent of their vision.
The patients developed infection symptoms three days after their original operations.
“It is unusual that eight patients in a row got infected. This meant that something during the surgery had gone wrong, either a procedure or a piece of equipment was broken or not cleaned properly,” Potamitis said.

Thanks for your replies. Does Maria Papadopoulos remove cataracts from the Iasis or is it a trip to Nicosia and is she covered by Gesy?

No, she doesn't. She has an eye surgeon who comes down to Iasis.
I had an eye op there for cataract on one of my eyes. For ne that didn't go particularly well. The surgeon told me that I had a brow bone which made it difficult for him to do the operation in the normal way. Suffice it to say that for weeks afterwards I was a regular at the eye doctor at Iasis as I had a lot of discomfort and a luckily minor eye infection in that eye. Fortunately, mine responded to antibiotics. Anyway, as I still had my other eye which also had a cataract which needed attention, I decided to ask various friends who had previously had their cataracts removed, who they had used.
When several told me that they had had cataracts in both eyes which had been operated on by eye surgeons at the Pantheo Eye Centre, Limassol, I began to take notice, as they all praised the treatment which they had received.
As Pantheo have a branch in Paphos, as someone has already mentioned, I rang them, then went along to make an appointment to see one of the team there who runs the Office on Ellados Rd. The waiting room there is spotless and modern. The surgeon who I saw took all my details and then examined both my eyes. He clearly wasn't impressed by the eye which had already been operated on in Paphos. He looked carefully at my other eye using modern state of the art optical equipment. Assessed the state of the eye and said it was a good candidate for cataract surgery. He answered all my questions understanding that I had previously had problems with the first eye. He was confident that if I had the operation at their Limassol Clinic all would be well.
I attended their Clinic in Limassol. It is truly impressive, 16 surgeons, all specialising in some different eye problem, some serious. I had a private room to wait in, before being prepared for the operation. Staff were friendly. The operating theatre was fitted with every state of the art machine, and instrument. I felt more confident and the operation was a total success. I had all the aftercare done in Paphos, by the same surgeon who had operated. No problems this time, and the improvement in my vision was amazing.
The director of Pantheo was the one who has been called on to treat most of the victims of the the failed surgery, patients who were operated on at a Private hospital in Nicosia...
I would thoroughly recommend anyone with a serious eye problem contact them. I had private treatment there,(it was before Gesy), but it was virtually the same as the cost of the treatment I had had in Paphos.
Dee
PS My only connection with this clinic was as a patient.

Maria is indeed with Gesy, the operation i had took place in a Limassol eye specialist clinic called Elia Elias, who is well known and well respected in Limassol.
