A war of words between Paphos municipality and environmentalists over the recent felling of a number of trees is rumbling on with a demonstration against the action planned for outside Paphos town hall on Sunday....

Since the Greens tried to claim that the proposed Polis motorway was going to go through the Ezousa Valley I have learned to take their utterances with a large pinch of salt.

...exactly, but you never know the council might listen this time and put the trees back up :lol:

No tree last forever. Like us they will die, but before they collapse & fall causing damage, they are euthanised (cut down)!

In this case Paphos must have had a huge number of sick old trees.
You can't help but notice how virtually all the mature shade giving trees have been systematically removed from all over the town! This is what the protest may well be about.
I know there are a number of people posting who will never disagree no matter what the Mayor decides to do, but if you talk to many of the locals and the shop keepers In town you hear of their resentment for some of the things which are being done. They say he acts arbitrarily and without consulting other council members.
And always sends out his workers at daybreak, unanounced where trees are to be given the chop.
