They need to increase the driving bans for drink driving to 1 year automatic and 1 year for refusing a breath test, and increase it for further convictions.
And crush uninsured cars!!

Good, not before time! But was there any mention of a banning the use of a mobile when driving? Thats a potential dangerous act and may lead to an unnecessary accident.

Yes there was:
'Using a mobile phone while at the wheel will now cost drivers €150, instead of the current €85, with the fine potentially rising to €300 in case of a second violation within three years.'

It's rather unfortunate that The Highway Code does not load. It would also have been good for someone with fluent English to check it before publishing as there are a number of very strand prohibitions, like Negative driving. I presume that should be Negligent driving?
I still think some of the penalties are too light, though are there enough police to actually catch offenders?
