I suppse that the walkway will be finished at sometime in the future! But how much will its construction to completion have cost, obviously millions of euros and will it be worth the huge expense?
Re building the General Hospital to cater for an expanding multi national population living in Paphos is a far more important project which the town desperately needs. Its a pity that the Mayor hasn't so far directed his attention to this and sought the funds required to do this.

Im sure any rebuilding of any Hospital comes under central Government ie the health ministry
the Mayor of Paphos or any other municipality dosnt have a say in it.,
further more how do you know the mayor hasnt asked for money for hospital improvements?

There was a report in CM (16-07-20) where the mayor had raised his concerns about the GH.

It's yet more positive news for Paphos, which is a good thing! I look forward to its completion and I will certainly use it. Well done to the mayor!!

Couldn't agree more Jimgym. Bravo Mayor!
I remember photographing him when he was sweeping the roads in Old Town before an official do. No press or anything were around. He was just making sure the job got done. You have got to respect a man in power for actions like that.

I wonder if the Pafos mayor has aspirations of higher office in 2023?

Yes, he's a good mayor and holds a masters in International and European studies and a degree in law, so he's no fool.
Prior to becoming mayor he was an active member of DIKO, which in practice appears to adopt a partition position on the Cyprus problem rather than the federation position which it claims to. DIKO is currently collapsing with a number of resignations by significant members who disagree with the way the party is going, so his personal politics remain unclear.

In the 2018 presidential election, the whole Pafos district voted 95% DIKO

I thought the article said that a tender was being raised to find a new company or consortium to build it? The previous builder went bankrupt...

By the number of orange constituencies on the map. By number of votes it's 41%

He is certainly not member of DIKO but belongs to DISY, the governing party. If he is willing to continue his job as a Paphos Mayor after 2021 is not clear yet, and I don't want to spread rumors about his possible successor....

He had in the past big fights with DIKO party leader concerning recent scandals (Paphos sewerage)

Oops, how embarrassing. Yes, you are right Max. I was getting the Democratic Party mixed up with the Democratic Rally. Different party but equally unclear as to the real leadership view on the Cyprus problem.

I'm not surprised that you got mixed up, it is confusing. I read something about the way that DIKO has split in two recently in the paper. Think it was a comment in 'Tales from the Coffeeshop.'

But 95% of the constituencies aren't orange either.

If you disagree (as often!), let us all know what percentage you would estimate.

Without counting properly it looks about 65%
