Grossly overinflated? Oh come off it. Even the article itself states:
Over 1,000 people may have had their deaths wrongly recorded as Covid-19
Given that nearly 50.000 deaths have been attributed. This indicates an inflation of a measly 2%.

I believe that when they look closely at the figures at some point hence, they will find that thousands have been attributed to Covid19 incorrectly. There are already quite a few complaints on FB , for example, of people being recorded as dying of Covid19 and the truth being something completely different.

According to the ONS there have been over 65,000 excess deaths up to the 19th June 2020 which is nearly one month ago. This is an additional difference of over 20,000 directly attributed to CV19 by the government.
Instead of trying to whitewash the government's abject failure in controlling the virus you should be asking about the causes of the additional 20,000 excess deaths.

In the devolved administrations they count any death that has had a positive Covid19 test within 28 days as a Covid19 death. In England they count any deaths that may have had a Covid19 test at any time as a Covid19 death. It is easy to see where the inaccuracies can come from.

So how do you account for the 65,000 excessive deaths?

And remember there will have been a lot less deaths From the usual diseases like flu due to the social distancing measures, so the true figure from covid may be even higher than 65k.

Why bring up Corbyn, Labour have not been in power for 12 years and the mess the country is in is totally down to the Tories?
You might as well ask what would have happened if the Liberals had of won. As the saying goes, "We are where we are.
As for the 66,000 extra deaths, that is comparative with the same period in 2019, not against the whole 12 months as you're suggesting.

Those extra 66,000 deaths are not alleged. They are actual.

Correct. However as I stated some of those would have died in 2020.
They all died in 2020. That is the whole point. I don't think you are grasping what the stat means.
Lets say 300,000 people normally die in the first six months of the year. This year's figure is 366,000.
And as Paulo pointed out, lockdown and social distancing will have reduced the deaths from diseases like flu etc, so the impact of Corona will be even more than that.
Unless you can come up with some other, as yet unidentified reason, which would explain the spike in death rate.

Don’t do politics. However if a party is in power for 12 years they must be doing something right?
Or maybe the opposition were so poorly represented?

Remind me. How long was Blair and Brown in power
As you said we are where we are in the UK. It’s time to move on hopefully and a vaccine will be available in The future.
It is absolutely not time to move on. A full PUBLIC inquiry needs to be held. Massive mistakes have been made. Even one, the failure to lock down AGAINST SCIENTIFIC ADVICE, for more than a week, will have cost over 10,000 lives. That’s a massive number of people sacrificed. I am convinced the economy was put before the elderly and infirm, as disposable and necessary assets. An inquiry will root out these mistakes.
Watch this, for even a fraction of the mistakes made!

This is a statement from the Byeline Times - not entirely independent, but the facts in this part are;
Government Lie - COVID-19 Death Statistics are Accurate and Transparent
For the first month of the Coronavirus pandemic, daily death reports from the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England only recorded hospitalised COVID-19 deaths. Care homes were not included in that figure until 16 April.
For seven weeks, the Government publicised slides comparing UK death tolls with other countries. These were dropped on 12 May when they showed that Britain had the highest death toll in Europe and the second highest in the world.
Due to limited COVID-19 testing, initially confined to hospitals, the UK has an estimated 65,700 ‘excess deaths’ – 49% above the historical norm, one of the highest in developed countries. Most of these are likely to be unrecorded COVID-19 fatalities. Britain has the highest case fatality in the world according to a study by Johns Hopkins University.
So, even in a few thousand deaths were not down to Covid, there are at least a few thousand that were and were not counted.
