Does anyone have any details of the testing being done at Paphos airport for Covid yet ?

Is the test machine the Samba II ? Cost about £23,000 each .

Does anyone know how many test these machines can do per use ?

Are people aware of how invasive the test is ? It’s not just a “q” tip up your nose but a long swab a long way in . And of course a second sample is take through your mouth from the back of your throat .

I would not go through such a test plus sitting on a plane for nearly 5 hours with a mask on just to get some sun and a Keo .

There are many companies with Point of Care Testing (POCT) systems with rapid testing... Such as Roche, Sd-Biosense and others.... A finger-prick test is 10 minutes... None of these tests are 100% accurate and in fact, average is 60% - not due to a failure of the test, but of patients differences in ‘shedding’ virus markers... As Max posted last week, German hospitals are installing Canon trailers to scan lungs, as that’s the only reliable method...

I´d expect even that only to be positive at a later stage of the disease, probably at least 5-6 days after infection as the virus usually needs time to spread to the lungs and affect them. It will usually -depending on the mode of infection and the amount of virus you´re infected with- first beset nose and pharynx and multiply there before descending into the lungs. Which means a lung scanner won´t pick up early stages - even though you´ll already be contagious after 2-3 days.
