Agree with Lincoln particularly if you stick to local produce.

However, prices are rising, and will probably do so in other countries, and we estimate our weekly shopping bill may increase by about €20 per week.

So we always compared prices in each country that we visited. We find the Cyprus was and still is far less expensive than all the other countries. That was a big reason for us to settle here in Paphos. The food is even cheaper if you stick to local produce rather than imported.
On average I think the quality of fruit, veg, and meat , eating out, is lower in cost then most other country's in the EU, and before people say I can get iceland sausages, chicken nuggets etc, cheaper back in the UK, im talking about real food, not processed cr*p

Well where did they get the figures from, they can't have conjured them out of thin air?
In the UK I believe they have a list of specific items which they purchase monthly to provide a food basket cost of living, possibly they've done this across the member countries.
