According to the media this morning, there will be an announcement coming in this afternoon's daily briefing from Priti Patel regarding the above.

It's intimated it will commence from 1 June 2020 and reviewed every couple of weeks and currently expected to last until at least mid July.
The "quarantine" will consist of self-isolation but you can use public transport when you arrive in the UK
They also indicate you can get fined up to £1,000 for breaking the quarantine and there will be spot checks.

"Any passengers arriving in the UK by plane, ferry or train would need to provide UK Border Force officials with an address where they will self-isolate, otherwise accommodation will be arranged by the government."

And contrary to their initial mention of this situation a few weeks ago - there is no exemption for arrivals coming in via France.
I think they quickly realised everyone was researching how to get back home from their holiday the quickest and cheapest way by that route....

There are hundreds of hotels at Heathrow.... force isolation on ALL non-UK nationals.

So, it is estimated from numbers arriving, that over 250,000 people with Covid, arrived in the UK. Some en-transit, many staying or transferring after a visit. ~Many would be asymptomatic, but still carriers. We followed the science.... supposedly. Shameful. We exposed UK residents to danger and under the guise of a mistaken theory of her immunity. Just like we did in moving carriers from hospitals to care homes. Eugenics is a strong term, but certainly ‘expendable numbers of victims’ is the easiest I can make it.

Is this about to be another attempt by No 10 to issue another confusing statement designed as much to stop any hope of British airlines from reopening by making it impossible for anyone from other countries to visit Britain for at least this summer?
This comes at a time when many European countries are getting over their lock downs , have much lower levels of Covid than the UK.
It seems as if any brave UK expats from Europe will need to undergo 14days quarantine On arrival in the UK, before going anywhere with the extra risk of perhaps meeting Covid 19 ...while there! (The last remark is a bit tongue in cheek,)

What does the new system involve?
Passengers arriving in the UK will be required to fill out an online locator contact form - providing details of where they will spend their 14 days in self-isolation.
The Home Office said the proposed accommodation will need to meet necessary requirements, such as a hotel or a private address with friends or family.
There will be a fine of £100 for failure to complete the form, and the Border Force will have the power to refuse entry to non-UK citizens who do not comply with the new regulations.
New arrivals will be told they may be contacted at any time during their quarantine and, in England, may be visited by public health authorities conducting spot checks.
They will be told to avoid public transport and travel to their accommodation by car "where possible", and not to go out to buy food or other essentials "where they can rely on others".
In England, a breach of self-isolation would be punishable by a £1,000 fixed penalty notice, or prosecution and an unlimited fine for persistent offenders.

Is Boris's main instinct to somehow cling to power as everything unravels around him?
What he and his main advisor Mr Cummings, plus his inexperienced , but probably well meaning ministers have done to the British people and to the UK's economy by mishandling the Covid 19 outbreak is appalling.
He has been in power less than 6 months, and he seems to have caused inestimable damage to both. The airlines and the travel industry must be furious about the Govt's latest blunder about announcing a 14 day quarantine too late in the day.

Priti Awful, the Home Secretary, in announcing the quarantine, said that there would be spot checks and if anyone was not found where they should be, they would be refused entry!!!!!!! What?

As Michael O’Leary said in an interview, the fact passengers will travel to their destinations by public transport, makes a fool of this. He said their strategy was “bonkers” - I have to agree. Yet another policy that an 8-year-old kid could have written better.

The Keystone Cops would of done a better job, then these bumbling fools.

Self-isolation is not quarantine.

This Priti Patel is a completely incompetent woman of the first water. Since her name first became in the public eye, she has made a boo-boo after boo-boo after boo-boo and yet she survives. How? Her latest idiocy is exacerbated by the delay between now and when it enters into force. At the very least, she could have made her mistake with immediate effect.

What chance has a woman of Asian appearance, (grandparents from India, parents born in Uganda, she was born in London) young (ish) born in 1972 of getting sacked when political parties say they are trying to be ethnically diverse.

She is one of the worst ministers ever. Incompetence beyond comprehension. Her inability to even say a large number.

She was sacked previously for lying and also visiting the IDF even when told not to. She has ambitions to be PM.

Cummings is the code problem. He has forced out all senior tories with experience, because they weren’t controllable by him. Boris is left with immature and inexperienced and incapable remnants.

She’s the Tories version of Diane Abbott! Totally incompetent.
