There are also tulips growing on the Akamas. We found some last sunday.

Can't really tell from your photos, Dominic, but those Akamas tulips look more like Dutch tulips as opposed to Polemi tulips. Polemi tulips, when open, have petals that are pointed rather than rounded, and the inside is black edged with yellow, almost like having a second flower painted inside.

They have been in Cyprus for at least two centuries on record. There are also two other species of tulip in Cyprus, one found in Tymbou and a sub species of that found in the Akamas region, but these are very few, he said.
