Thieves spotted an open car window and stole €12,000 the owner had left in his parked car, CNA reports.

It said that a 52 year old architect had reported to police yesterday that he had withdrawn the cash from his bank in order to pay his employees. The money was in 500, 100 and 50 euro bills.

The money was in the car which he parked on Agapinoros street in Geroskipou.

Police went to the scene and are examining CCTV among other as part of the investigation.

The owner told police he had forgotten the driver’s window open.

Two things spring to mind here.
Firstly, why draw cash from the bank rather than do an on-line transfer?
Secondly, why leave the cash in the car, apparently in sight?

Thirdly (maths is not my strong point,😀), having the cash withdrawal show up on his bank records does not prove the cash was stolen from his car ... or am I being too suspicious?

How many of us have done stupid things in the past, he might be on a scam, but it could also be kosher.

Why is it suspicious? Insurance companies wouldn’t pay out for this amount of cash anyway so there is absolutely nothing to gain from making up a story. He is probably kicking himself that everyone know about it.
