Hi Norv,

Your last post " things can only get better "

The music for "Tiger Rag" was written in 1917 by Nick LaRocca of the Oirignal Dixieland Jazz Band. The lyrics were written in 1931 by Harry DaCosta which featured the line "Hold that tiger!" The song with lyrics became a monster no. 1 hit for The Mills Brothers in 1931. "Tiger Rag" is arguably the most covered and most known jazz song. It has been covered by everyone from Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller to Les Paul and Mary Ford who reached no. 2 with the song in the 1950s. The song found renewed life as a college fight song. It remains one of the greatest jazz classics.

"Hold That Tiger" Jelly Roll Morton Sings LSU Tiger Rag

Hold That Tiger - Betty Boop - Betty Boop and Grampy

Tiger Rag - Midlife Jazzband / Swiss Dixie Jazzer ( My personal favourite version)

Hold That Tiger (Tiger Rag) - The Swing Ninjas
