I have posted this here because a friend here in Cyprus would like to get back to the uk and he knew nothing about these flights . I wonder how many more people are not aware ?

There will be 10 further repatriation flights to the UK from 25-30 April to a range of UK airports with Aegean Airlines, as follows:
25 April Larnaca to LHR 0740 - 1240
26 April Larnaca to LHR 0740 - 1240
26 April Larnaca to Manchester 0430 - 0945
27 April Larnaca to Edinburgh 0300 - 0820
28 April Larnaca to LHR 0740 - 1240
28 April Larnaca to Manchester 0430 - 0945
29 April Larnaca to Edinburgh 0300 - 0820
29 April Larnaca to Manchester 0510 - 1025
30 April Larnaca to Edinburgh 0300 - 0820
30 April Larnaca to Manchester 0510 - 1025
These flights are open to British nationals across Cyprus. For those located in the north of the island, there will be procedures in place for you to cross the Green Line at Pergamos on presentation of a confirmed flight booking, and organised onward transport to Larnaca airport. Flight costs are likely to be around 320 Euros, as with previous flights.
Aegean will not be operating online or telephone bookings for these flights. If you would like to book a ticket, please send an email to [email protected]) indicating:
- Your full name (as written in your passport)
- British passport number
- Contact telephone number where Aegean can reach you
- Which of the above 10 flights you wish to take (date, time and destination)
- whether you are currently located in the north or south of the island (for organising bus transport from Pergamos)
We will then pass these details onto Aegean who will contact you directly to confirm bookings. Previous experience shows that Aegean are not confirming bookings until the afternoon before each flight. Please be patient.
There may not be further repatriation flights after this series of 10 flights. Unless you are prepared for a further lengthy stay on the island, you are therefore strongly advised to take advantage of these return offers.

Useful information. If people want to get back they only have to look on the HighCommission website for updates. If you register you get regular updates. This applies to most countries.

I would need to have a desperate need to want to return to the UK just now. To 14 days self isolation.. unable to go out. Also the UK frowns on anyone using a mask. I feel that someone would be saying that I was depriving an NHS worker of one.

I wear a mask when going to the supermarket. I am surprised if I see more than 1 other person doing so. Availability is almost zero in the UK.I actually get funny looks and avoidance when doing so - which is great. More people now are starting to make masks as they are being ripped off on amazon and Ebay. I purchased FFP3 masks from Screwfix in January, for about £2.50 each and FFP2 and FFP1 for between 50p and £1. FFP3 masks are around £25 - £30 each online. 10x their proper value. I have reported companies to Ebay but it's like pushing water up a hill.

Try reporting them to HMRC. You may have to use non-official means, as the official route was bloody useless when I used it some time ago. But if you mention it to somebody who actually works there, you will be surprised at how quickly things can happen.

This is of course on the assumption that the eBay seller isn't VAT registered. It will be fairly easy to see what their turnover is based on past sales.

Years ago I sold refurbished routers on ebay, legitimately, and was forever getting undercut by competitors who weren't VAT registered. I reported them to HMRC but nothing ever happened. Then one day, after I had signed up to a new wholesaler, there was a knock on my front door. It was the VAT people, and they wanted to check I was a legit I.T company and not somebdoy committing a Carousel fraud. Once I had done this, I showed them the seller i had previously complained about. With a couple of clicks I pointed out a turnover of over a quarter of a million quid. They were very interested.

Shortly afterwards, all the listings of this company vanished, and their website disappeared too.

So, if you know somebody there, and it is obvious that the company selling the masks is dodgy, then try it.

Obviously, this only works if you own VAT details are in order. Sleeping dogs, and all that.
