He was initially admitted "as a precaution" but Mr Johnson's health has since deteriorated, Number 10 said.

The prime minister has now asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputise for him "where necessary".

A Number 10 spokesman said: "Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.

"The prime minister has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State, to deputise for him where necessary.

"The prime minister is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication."

This really brings it home to you, A man you see nearly every day on TV and appears to be in good health and then this, It should be a real wake up call to all those flouting the guidance given – I really hope he comes through this and makes a quick recovery.
Best of luck Boris.

Why oh why do the Beeb ask such ridiculous questions. Of course the machinery of Government continues you utter muppets. No British Government is reliant on the capabilities of one person.

Why on earth do we still allow these people to make unnecessary journeys to cover a non-story from outside a hospital.

Not only that, but why do financial reporters and political reporters think they can also be experts on medical matters? You cannot talk to scientists in the same way that you talk to politicians. They are different sorts of people. All the egomaniac reporters do is try and find scapegoats. Just let them bloody well get on with it and shut up.

What about Piers Morgan asking Gove this morning who has control over the nuclear button now that Boris has handed over to Dominic Raab.

Because there's plenty of "Muppets" (as you refer to them) who don't understand the inner workings of government and need to have things spelt out for them. As there is no constitution there's nothing written down to say who will officially take over if the PM is incapacitated; Raab is just filling in on a day to day basis.

There is indeed nothing written down. However, the Government by Cabinet has been going for a few centuries and the concept of "Collective responsibility" is well honed. Even today the Guardianista is worrying over the idea that Raab may not have freedom of movement regarding decisions, completely ignoring the notion of collective responsibility and even suggesting that it may be a hindrance! These journalists should just report what has happened and no opinions.

As for reporters, I was totally disgusted by the BBC news last evening, showing their reporters, all clothed in protective clothing, interviewing and commenting upon hospital care, from inside the hospital.

How can it be right that they are allowed in, in the first place, and how dare they use clothing that a doctor or nurse would need, which would be useless to anyone once they had removed it, and why did the hospital authorities allow it to happen at all ?

Because the media use privately purchased clothing... The BBC news the other evening, from NY, showed a reported in top-both clothing that the nurse said she would like - she was wearing a bin-bag...
It is vital that the population in the UK see the seriousness from inside a hospital, to ensure people socially distance - whether we agree with the use of PPE or not.

On the PPE subject, the Government is lying about adequate supplies and only logistical problems with deliveries. Nurses are being told not to wear masks, unless on a Corona ward. GP practices are being told to wear the same paper mask all day. Care homes and Domiciliary care companies are without PPE.

Can you start provide citations for your claims, because otherwise it is idle gossip.

No, we do not need to see inside the hospital, we are not stupid, we know what is going on in there, this type of reporting has to stop.

Why? Just because YOU say so? This type of reporting is what the public want!

It is completely unnecessary. Besides, a nurse and a smart phone could quickly get the required footage. It wouldn't be cinema quality but it would suffice.

I agree with you, but the public adores seeing blood and stricken PMs.

Why you ask Devil, it doesn't take a genius to see that the reporter should not be there, visiting is forbidden, and the protective clothing should go to a medical professional who needs it. Many are going without.

Who says the public adores seeing blood and stricken PMs, YOU ! If that where you get your kicks, enjoy.
