A total of 9,020 tests for coronavirus were conducted by Monday at the reference lab of the Molecular Virology department, the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING) announced.

Molecular testing is done in cooperation with the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health, based on the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC) and World Health Organisation protocol, a relevant statement says.

All samples are tested immediately by CING and the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit is notified, in order to inform those concerned, it is added.

CING acknowledges the crucial period we are going through and has been on the side of the state from the first moment, offering its services in order to contain the pandemic, the statement concludes

With a staff of 680, it would only take Paphos GH just over 7 days to use all these masks (assuming once only use) . So 5,000 masks are welcome, but just a drop in the ocean!

[quote]I managed to buy a reusable, washable mask last week. It's matter of luck as with the large no of pharmacies on.this island new stock is shared out between them all. This often results in each pharmacy Only getting a fraction of their order. Thus you need to ask at each pharmacy...
The other fact which I learnt from chatting to a pharmacist, is that the hospitals get their orders quite separately to the pharmacies..So buying from a pharmacy doesnot impact on the hospitals.
So I was told.
