Hi

Does anyone know if the banks are keeping the ATM's replenished?

Sorry if asked and answered.

Bank staff are still working, so I expect that the ATMs will be replenished

Thank you Uncle D, I did not realise the banks were still opening. Do you know if they are working normal hours or restricted hours please?

Aren't their normal hours already restricted? They work only half a day!

Had an email from BoC. Late last week advising to disinfect bank cards weekly. Presumably there is a potential for cross contamination with the card of a previous user, retained in the atm card guide

Tried the JC Smart atm outside AlphaMega this morning with my UK debit card. Refused to give me any money. Gave me a slip advising me to ring them. Then, on the way back, went to BOC in Geroskipou and it worked. Usually, the JC Smart machines work with no charges on my UK card and I have learnt, from past experience, always to put in a round number, eg, hundreds, as often they have not got 20s or 10s.

I intend wearing surgical gloves and putting the debit card in a plastic bag after use. I will disinfect card when I get home. Better safe than sorry. That’s assuming I can input information at the ATM with gloves on.

Strange, if they have not enough 20s, WHY when I cashed 800 Euro, there appeared 20x 20s notes and the rest in 50s.... Annoying

Had to use an ATM last week, so as we wear gloves when we go out anyway I used an antibacterial wipe to clean the area where the card is inserted, the touch screen and finally the keypad - grey/black - so used another wipe!

If we just want €50 notes I take out the full amount in one go, but if I need €20s I enter a smaller amount and do the transactions three times to get the required total.

How much cash can you withdraw from Cyprus ATMs using a contactless card ?

I have withdrawn €2,000 at a time from my BOC account , I think that is the upper limit per withdrawal but you might be able to do multiple withdrawals on the same day.

Is that (as asked) from an ATM with a card in one transaction ???

What I am asking is using contactless , ie not putting your card in the slot .

As far as I can recollect I have never seen a contact less ATM

The ATM opposite Casa Luna in Tala has it , but I have never tried .

I just thought it would be one less thing to worry about if you did not have to put your card in a slot .

Hellenic in Chlorakas has contactless, but I couldn't get it to accept. New screen layout too, that flummoxed me for a bit.

BTW, JCC ATM's are accepting any card at no charge during this crisis.

Now I know why those annoying people in an ATM queue put their card in multiple times. I always thought they had multiple cards and didn't know which one had money!
