Ah, there's a funny story about the Koontz book. The virus originally came from Russia, but it was changed to China in a reprint after the cold war ended.
Its a shame. If a book actually did accurately predict the events, then the solution at the end of the book would be what we would all have to do. That's science, and you can't argue with that.
Does anybody know how the book ended?

Actually, according to an interview I once watched with Trev N Simon (from saturday morning kids TV back in the 80s) Sting never used to wash, as he preferred using natural oils to clean his hair etc. This made him very smelly, so perhaps that was the real reason for the song.
