Tried out my new bike today, an ebike purchased from Ride Easy. Rode from Anarita to the dam and then up to Choletria, then across to Old Choletria and Nata then down to Anarita. According to Strava I completed a Category 3 and a Category 4 hill. (However, only at 5mph)
I only used power on the hills and then only on the lowest setting, so I still had 3 bars out of 5, of battery left when I got home.
I took a wrong turning at on of the farm tracks so ended up going down to the B6 by mistake. It is possible to ride from Anarita to the dam using minor roads and farm tracks. The dam is still overflowing and the bee hives have been moved to higher ground.

The views were fantastic on this ride and you notice much more on a bike than in a car.
Old Cholectria. Next time I do this ride I will do a bit more exploring here.

Then downhill to the bridge at Nata. However, I still had quite a climb to do to the Army Camp, and then a lovely ride downhill to Anarita.
A brilliant ride and one which would be manageable either early morning or late evening in the summer.

Yes, it looks like a volcanic crater, though rather small!

Lovely photos, John. I know that area quite well from walking. It is very easy to get to the dam from the village. If coming from the B6,You turn right at the white church and bear to the left as you leave the houses. The lane becomes a track and it leads you down to the dam where the track bends left. If you take the first turning to the right and follow that track you will get great views over the Asprokremnos.

I bought my bike in the sale on Black Friday, but we returned to the UK shortly after so I did not have the chance to ride it. First time on a proper ride yesterday.
I paid €700. Easy Ride get these bikes from a firm in Limassol but I paid the same price at Easy Ride as the advertised price in Limassol. Their website says my bike is out of stock, but it has said that since Christmas.
I bought an electric bike in the UK shortly after my heart bypass. I've ridden over 3 thousand miles on it in the three years since my op. However, in Cyprus, I bought a traditional mountain bike. I've ridden as far as Agios Georgios on it. However, the advantage of an electric bike is that it flattens hills out and makes riding against the wind so much easier. Also you tend to ride much further as you know you are able to get back home.
On my mountain bike, when I rode to Agios Georgios, I had to walk up Sea Caves Avenue and my new bike would cope with it. I also had to walk up the hill from Timi to Anarita.
My bike has the motor on the rear wheel. I did look at Trek electric bikes but they are in the thousands of euros. Trek Powerfly 4, 2019 model is €2599. The new, 2020 Trek models have a redesigned Bosch hub motor, which is smaller and lighter. For what I need a bike to do, farm tracks and quiet roads, my Tshibo is adequate.

My Mountain Bike. I could have had this converted to an ebike but it would have cost more than my Tshibo.

What is the legal definition of your bike? I've a nasty feeling in the back of my mind that such bikes are in a kind of legal limbo.

From what I have been told, in various bike shops, Cyprus has adopted EU Law for pedelecs. My bike is legal to ride as the motor cuts out at 15mph or 25kmph. The throttle cannot be used independently (although by some quirk, mine can when assist is switched off), and the motor cannot exceed 250 watts.
Some of the bikes I have seen on sale here exceed these limits and in some more enlightened, cycle friendly countries larger motors and higher maximum speeds are allowed.
However, 15mph is fast enough for me. I usually ride at around 10mph or less. I have learnt that if you fall off, you do not bounce as well as you did when you were in your teens.

In Northern Ireland, ebikes are illegal, as their assembly has not ratified the EU Law as it has been suspended for some time.

I believe this to be correct also. I bought almost the identical bike - but the Tchibo for 600. Very happy with it. This is the latest I have found from EU stuff -

With that however, it is important to note that in most European member states compliance with EN 15194:2017 is not a legal requirement, compliance is voluntary. But compliance of electric bicycles with pedal assistance up to 25 km/h and maximum 250W with the Machinery Directive is a legal obligation.

As I understand it, many bikes in Switzerland, Austria and the like exceed the 25 km/h, 250w limit. Big hills.

My favourite picture from my ride. Pity about the power lines. Will have to go again to retake it. All these pics were taken with a Huawei P20 pro phone. Very impressed with the camera on this phone. Much better than my moto.

Did the same ride today but without stops for photos and managed it in just over an hour and a half. On Strava I am one of the slowest riders but my heart rate is lower than everyones.

Below is a picture of my actual bike. It copes with the hills on Power Level 1 and would fly up on Level 3, but I like to do most of the work. The two big hills I rode up today I averaged 7 mph.

Wouldn't be without it. Got a chilly type bottle from Jumbos for the summer.
In the UK I have been taking a flask of hot coffee.
