Renewing UK Passport

My UK passport expires on 9th February 2021. It was issued on 28th June 2010. I was told today that, following Brexit, I should discount the remaining months that were added and renew it 6 months before the 10th anniversary of the issue date rather than the expiry date.
Can anyone confirm this please, or was I misinformed.

Of the opinion that the expiry date is the one that is stated in the Passport. Have read that now it is no longer possible to renew a passport early and have the remaining months added on ie a 10 year passport is a 10 year passport. Also people complained in fact it is only valid for nine and a half years as many countries insist on there being at least 6 months left on the passport.
