My husband had both his eyes done by Dr Maria at The Iasis hospital. She was excellent but was quite expensive.
A friend is ours has just had his done with Dr Maria but with Gesy. So think she maybe Gesy registered now.
Still waiting f you have to pay we can really recommend her.

I had one done by Dr Tassos at Blue Cross. Very happy with both the treatment and post-op follow-ups. Cost was E1500 I seem to remember. I didn't realise Gesy would now cover this - I must look into that in more detail when the other eye gets nearer to needing it.

In the case of my wife.. both. She realised that her vision was 'cloudy,' and the optician Panicos at Eye Contact told her she needed to see an optical surgeon..

My wife had both her eyes done at the beginning of last year by Dr Maria at the Iasis and she is extremely happy with the outcome. After wearing glasses for years she no longer needs them.

Go with the best on the island, Theodoros Potamitus at Pantheo Eye Clinic, Limassol.
They only use the best Zeiss lenses. Rosemary had the bifocal ones fitted and no longer needs reading glasses. Five years, no problems and really pleased with the results. She still goes for checkups. At the time she had hers done, there were reports in the UK of a certain large opticians doing operations for the NHS and using substandard lenses and people losing their sight.

I had cataracts removed from both my eyes a year ago,
I had one eye done at Iasis, I was not happy with the results Of that unfortunately. As a result of recommendations from several friends, I went to Pantheo for my other eye. It was like chalk and cheese. My treatment at Pantheo was 1st class. They were very thorough, and with 16 opthalmic surgeons working there, they specialise in every kind of eye condition.
Their diagnostic equipment is also very high tech. They have a consultant who is based in Paphos and sees patients in his consulting room for both the initial consultation and for after care. I only had to attend their ultra modern Limassol clinic once for the actual operation.

Prices for the eye surgery in both places are very similar, but I know which I prefer. I am still attending a 6 monthly routine eye check at Pantheo, which my surgeon likes to do to check that all is well..

Happy for you Lloyd glad all went well, I need to have the same surgery but I will get mine done at a local private hospital, cost about €1.600 I believe unless you wait for the GHS to start doing surgery....next June.

Hi Jim.

Just back from the Blue cross with my neighbour who had her cataract removed, covered by Gesy.

6 euros plus 9.50 euros for the prescription, with a free pair of darkened glasses to protect her eye.

Roughly took 3 hours in total as the patients being operated on were all told to arrive at the same time, a great service!!

Each to his own and I’m glad that your neighbors operation went so well.lUnfortunately, I had a less pleasant experience at another local private hospital before GESY. Plus I had both pain and discomfort for several weeks afterwards. Which was why I took advice and had my second eye done st Pantheo. As a specialist eye clinic I was much more impressed with the way I was treated there and with the actual operation in an operating theatre which had brilliant and up to the minute equipment. The whole thing was as Lloyd described it and I would recommend Pantheo to anyone who asks.
