You are correct of course but I personally wouldnt trust the integrity of insurance companies. You would have recourse in law if you're not able to pay road tax before the 7th January but leaving payment till March may be ok with the government but not neccassarily with the insurance companies. We paid our vehicles road tax on the 7th, 12 months after we paid last year's.

Maybe, but I am seeking motor insurance at the mo & was asked "is the vehicle taxed?" which I presume to mean 'road tax'.

That makes it sound as though your family are rather accident prone LloydHappy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 1:42 pm In the number of insurance claims which members of my family have submitted over the past 15 years, never once were we asked whether, and on what date, the car was taxed. It worries me not one jot that we will not tax our vehicles until March, as we always do.
Anyway, the original post was about how to pay the road tax at BoC / JCC

If you were to road tax your car for 6 months only, until end of June
would you get the same period of grace as taxing at beginning of year
ie. until March?

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it.. I have never heard anyone say that they have got a few months 'grace'
