If it need refurbishing then it needs doing...I bet Ms Delaney would have been even more incensed if she’d got the to the hospital and saw a sign “sorry closed for refurbishment” 🙄

As posted recently the hospital is a disgrace, no excuses on the filthy conditions, the director Georgiou should consider his position. My GP said they should knock it down and start again, the town needs a new hospital and very soon.

By the way if you are going to have to have an eye-test medical for driving licence my Gesy GP will not do the needed paper work, so you may have to pay via a none Gesy GP (private) , this Gesy system is truly bad, OK if all you need is pills, it is run by headless chickens.

We are more than entitled to moan about this terrible hospital and what services it offers or does not offer.

By the way, my GESY GP did the eye-test medical for my driving licence AND the paperwork.

I must admit that both my wife and I have had the driving licence forms filled in by our Gesy GP at no charge.

OK who is your GP? let us know and I will change over, I had a phone message today that warned me my GP at the Anvangelimos will NOT fill our driving licence forms, so what do you do? pay I guess..I have again contacted Gesy support I await the answer as to why that GP will not fill out medical driving licence forms, some maybe happy with this Gesy situation but for sure many are not, it is for some of us a disaster, do not get ill on this system...

Thanks Les do you have the email contact please.

My GP did the test for the driving license-no charge. Her list is full so no others can be accepted at present.
I thinhk GESY is terrific. Works for me.

Any suggestions for a private doctor who will do the driving licence test?

Thank you.

I did contact the main Gesy service and this was the reply..TODAY!,

And it works for you?, wait until you need a medical procedure, they just send you to a private hospital and of course you will pay!! so how good is Gesy, good enough to get drugs cheapish but it seems nothing else!!not even easy to get a medical for this driving licence renewal.Gesy is total rubbish at the moment.

So it seems even they do not understand what problems some of us are having, they do not know their left from the right!!

I think JimX's experience and subsequent throwing of his teddy out the pram is solely due to his poor judgement in, first of all his choice of GP and, secondly, his chosen route to get the documentation he requires.
At the beginning of September I went to my GP, based at the Paphos General and immediately got a referral to see the ophthalmologist at the General.Having got the necessary strips from the registration desk (€12.00 paid, 6 for the eye test and 6 for the certificate). I walked through to the 'specialist side of the hospital and sat outside the ophthalmologist's door and after 5 minutes was called in, had the eye test, received a letter and was directed to the 2nd floor where I exchanged the letter for the certificate. I then took that certificate to the Anavargos post office filled in the necessary forms and was told to come back in a month's time to pick up my new driving licence.
I would therefore disagree with his judgement that GESY is rubbish based upon his limited experience with the driving licence scenario.

You were lucky that you must be under the considered age of that Dr Thelma on the 2nd floor to be able to drive. We had 2 years of her going on about MOH being the same age as her Dad, and he doesn't drive! Apart from using age as a reason not to give a licence, which is illegal, since there is no upper age limit, everyone is not at the same health level. She reluctantly gave in after some arguing and we decided to pay privately afer two years of the same scenario.

As a matter of interest why should Gesy pay for anyones required tests to renew your driving licence?

Thinking about this, I think you make a valid point.

Paphos General was once the ‘flagship hospital’ in Cyprus

When built, Paphos General was the “flagship hospital in Cyprus” – clean and modern, however it has suffered almost 20 years of neglect.

Much of the place has never had a fresh coat of paint, and the atrium which was such a lovely feature has become a disgrace.

Until recently the “public” toilets were also an absolute disgrace.

Why has the Ministry of Health allowed what was such a lovely building fall into such disrepair.
