Flu Jabs - today at the General

After hearing that some people had been successful in getting their 'flu vaccinations at the General in the last few days we went along today and found several people waiting outside a locked vaccination office. A notice on the door said that breaks are taken between 1000-1030. This was at 11.15. My OH saw another notice in Greek that said (words to the effect) that 'flu vaccinations had finished and would start again early in November.

We're not sure if this was an old notice as we seem to remember this being mentioned on an earlier posting.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I was told today by the doc. at the chest clinic that the
flu jabs will start again on November 6th when the new
stock of vaccine arrives.

Thanks for that info. I have been there twice recently and found the room locked up. The notice mentioned was on the door the 2nd time. But actually finding out when the next lot of vaccine has actually arrived is more difficult...
News of this must be spread by bush telegraph!

Some Pharmacies do have the vaccine available at a small cost, maybe worth getting it from them..no doubt they have not run out.

I went again to the General and the Flu Clinic today. On my arrival I saw the door was open! But I was quickly told that they had run out of vaccine yet again..However, I was offered an appt there in 2 weeks, so my name is on their list for that. It’s a step forward, just hope that there will be vaccine available when I arrive for this!

I have an open mind on this like you Jim. But please send me a pm to tell me where your pharmacy who will only charge you €7 for the flu vaccine is located. The ones I have tried want double that price, if and when they have any vaccine!

Should the Health Minister resign over this massive miscalculation?

If the company that sells the vaccine have no more supplies to sell Cyprus at the moment, why should the health minister resign ..

Ah.. That information (if it is true ) was not in the posts :-)
Seems strange, I would have thought they would order roughly the same every year, plus a little bit more..

I think it may be the GESY affect, when there were major shortages of medicines (some life endangering)! In the past I would have visited a Pharmacy & paid €10, but even they don't have any this year!

" the vaccines will be administered from Wednesday, November 6, 2019 by appointment only." That's why I went to the GH today, to make an appointment for tomorrow, but all the 1,200 doses allocated had gone already she said.
