Does anyone know what the 1st day of hunting is? I was expecting it to be next Sunday, but someone told me it's the last Sunday in October, which would mean I have to keep the cat in tonight (she's not going to be happy!).

Officially it starts on 1st Nov, though as Jim said it may start tomorrow! You will soon know because gun shots may be heard even before it is properly light enough!
Keeping your animals indoors overnight may be sensible...

We drove through the countryside behind Polemi yesterday and there were loads of those funny little birds that run down the track in front of you rather than fly away. Their name escapes me at the moment, but they are bred in captivity just to be hunted. They must have just released them.

Not really much of a sport. Like going fishing at a trout farm.

Chukkar Partridge probably and yes they are bred by the Game Authority for shooting along with Quail.

Not my cup of tea, but no different then Lizzy and her Royal mob shooting every thing that moves, back in the UK.
