Paphos Life

Neo Chorio is proposing the construction of a telepherique from the Baths of Aphrodite to a hill near the village, some two kilometres away, Phileleftheros reported on Tuesday.

Community leader Andreas Christodoulou Machimos said such a project would attract tourists and generate revenue for the local authority.

Even if they call it "telepherique" I find that quite unacceptable in that nice area, of course with an periptero, toilets, etc etc and the existing nice and quiet nature trails would become a "marathon" and Akamas on the way to extinction... money, money....

No, a waste of time and money as both sites are easily accessible by road...
Probably be an expensive project as ski lifts are very expensive to buy and to install . Also they need regular maintenance which isn’t usually a strong point here...
The Akamas villages all want to make money out of tourism any way.

22 years since we were last there but I recall it as unspoilt then. Nowt whatsoever should be built there.

This reminds me of the elevated walkway rusting away opposite the Mall.. Firm gone Bankrupt and no one in a rush to finish it off

Yes, that elevated walkway is an expensive white elephant. All that was needed in 2017 was a footbridge over Agios Pavlos Ave (road from Mall to the harbour) to make it safer for pedestrians to cross the busy road..

I emphasise but like it or not life moves on at an ever faster pace. I remember Sheila Hawkins commenting in one of her excellent books that the place she decided to live in Latchi was being spoilt. Many see this happening every day & it would be nice if we could stop the clock at a time we enjoyed most

Spot on Dominic, some people want the locals to live in mud houses, fetch water from the well, and travel by cart and donkey, because it was so quaint

Why don’t they buy the abandoned Skywalk in Paphos!
