Very interesting, but wonder where they are thinking of planting 10,000 trees? There’s room for lots of new trees in the Troodos. But this article didn’t go so far as to say if they are thinking of Paphos town, or the much wider Paphos area?

They're obviously very good at preventing soil erosion, stabilising loose ground.

Yes, of course. But trees destined for the National Forrests and in the mountains are usually planted in the autumn when the weather is cooler and nights are longer, in the hope that the winter rains will be starting soon after. When planted in a more urban setting, new trees are watered as necessary until they get established and have longer roots.

It says it is a Municipality initiative. Therefore it is unlikely it will stretch beyond the municipal boundary, and certainly not the Troodos.

The thing is, there are many "empty" plots in Paphos with no trees to speak of. 100,000 does sound a lot, but there are 3 new parks either constructed or under construction that will need trees and there are refurbished car parks needing tree cover. Looking at forestry estimates, it seems 100,000 trees take up about one square kilometre. Paphos municipality area is 82.5 sq kilometres so it is doable.

Even the longest trips start from the first step!

The first review of the "100,000 trees in trees" initiative was successfully completed as part of the #beactive campaign and the European exercise week. In Love with Poseidonio Health Spa & Fitness Center and donated by Green Forest, citizens of all ages planted today, on tasu papadopoulou avenue, 180 trees and bushes.

Thank you to all the volunteers who gave their present, while we urge those who did not make it today to stay tuned to our page for the next actions!

Good start!
