As my last post went obviously to the universe: here again...

I took this photo on a very clear day... which village is it?

And my reply also went missing. I thought it might be Argaka.

They are both on the old forum. Nothing sinister. :)

So not Argaka. I also thought about Mandria.

Argaka has indeed a similar look, but less houses... and Mandria/Paphos is wrong Louise....

It looks like a little hint is necessary: it is on the North/West coast of Cyprus...

Yes, Prodromi is the village. One can see clearly the road in the center coming down from Droushia.

Prodromi cannot believe how much development has gone on since the last time I was there 🥴

Max, just read this interesting article and as your are such a knowledgeable man, I thought you would be interested, especially as you know the surrounding areas.

Would love to hear your comments.

Thank you very much for posting this link Andros. If you believe or not, but I was the one who discovered the ancient site at Makounta in 1998, went to Nicosia to the Dept.of.A. with crates full up with stone tools (ca 300 pieces) and a video showing 3 round foundations and one square one from neolithic houses to be told that they are not interested in it, as they don't have the money. Further they accused me of stealing ancient items from their country... in the end they were happy to tell me if I donate at least 50.000 CYP, then there is perhaps a solution.
I was very upset about their behaviour and stopped having interest in that site.

Recently I tried to contact Mr.Mc Carthy on his other excavation site at Prastio/Mesorotsos in August but I missed him there, just to tell him that at Magounta are at least three round houses not the only one they discovered in 2018.

Wow, I knew you would know something about this. Well done Max. Shame Nicosia didn’t listen to you then. Have you still got the items you found?? You must post photos if you have. Very interesting and informative.
What did you find??

As I said before I found mainly stone tools like the ones these girls are showing.. https://makountavoules.com/field-school-2019/
but also a lot of small pieces of ceramics dating to the Late Chalcolithic period, Early Bronze age, which were all on the surface of the field.
To avoid any more stress with the Dept., I left everything in Nicosia, even when they told me to bring it back where I found it

You can be sure Andros, if I still had the 20 year old video or photos, I would have published them in the meantime.. :(

I always thought that this ancient site would be very important for the wider Polis/Pomos area. Typical for people at that time was that they were hiding their settlements in places not to be seen from the sea, but to be able to have a post of observation nearby, which is exactly this site.
