"A lot of people upset about brexit are upset because it will mean less help for the needy; the refugees and the people reliant on the protection of the EU. The exact opposite of "all about me".
I wonder what the people of Greece and the unemployed youth of the olive belt would make of that tosh

I don't recall the people of Greece having a say in Brexit.

But surely they are entitled to the benevolence of the EU before anyone else
I also suspect that the ludicrous way the Greek disaster has been handled by the EU contributed to the UK vote to leave?

You can roll your eyes and try to change the subject all you want. It doesn't make you right.

Here you go- so right it's scary- and that is one of the reasons why we left (and could not be more on topic/subject)

Agreed.
It came up quite often in the Brexit debate. People started to realise what the EU was really about...

But that doesn't mean that people voted to remain were "all about me". You are refuting an argument that wasn't raised. 100% straw man.

If maintaining what you have and being scared of change isn't all about "me" then I really don't know what to say.
When I voted to leave I was fully aware ofthe possible financial and logistical problems that may cause me, but I also was aware of the ridiculous policies the EU is implementing, along with the personal advantages some of those brought me.
On the basis of all that I made a value judgement that will do me personally no good whatsoever- but I was more than happy to do so. If that makes me a straw man in some people's eyes so be it- I'd rather be that than a blinkered hypocrite

So remainers are blinkered hypocrites?
Strange, I know an awful lot of people in the UK voted leave because they didn't want the workplace competition. They wanted more pay. Simple as that. They at least were honest in their reasoning. They didn't claim to be doing it for other people.

Those that can only see the altruistic/idealistic aims of the EU over the economic /catastrophic reality that is the EU are indeed blinkered hypocrites

If they were on the other side of the "freedoms" and the economic "policies" they would not be so accepting of the mess
Anyone that doesn't want more pay is an idiot- anyone that can't afford to buy a house, raise kids or even see a doctor in a reasonable time frame despite having more pay and paying more tax isn't really benefiting from whatever system is place

If you think they are blinkered, they cannot be hypocritical. In order for them to be hypocritical they would need to be fully aware.
And surely the very essence of "all about me" is wanting more pay?
I am not saying wanting more pay is a bad thing. I am saying that your argument that remainers are "all about me" is quite frankly laughable. You appear to be wearing blinkers of your own making.

You can be blinkered in what you see and hypocritical in what you think- oddly enough the two often go hand in glove. If you only see what you want to see then you are more likely to be a hypocrite than not - it depends who puts on the blinkers . A horse has them put on without choice, a human wears them voluntarily
It's just about the most pathetic hypothesis I have ever heard and you really do need to be in some sort of denial of what is actually going on around you to even suggest it

Indeed...
It really is difficult to moderate a discussion fairly if you are directly involved in it... CL Jim showed us that...

If you don't like the way the forum is run, remember that posting on it isn't actually compulsory. You could go elsewhere, or set up your own forum.
You can discuss that amongst yourselves while I go to the main forum and be sociable.
