You simply wouldn´t be allowed to stay (unless the UK picked up the bill for you).
Jeba, many do...once you have your MEU 1, what is to stop you just cancelling your insurance?
For instance that your cancellation will only be accepted if you prove that you took out cover with a different company? That´s how it´s done in Germany.

The rules in the UK apply to uk citizens and resident eu citizens alike...that's what "Freedom of Movement" is all about.
What a load of twaddle. Cypriots can avail themselves of the local health service, call it what you want, without paying except for nominal amounts for consultation fees and prescription charges. They can, if they wish go privately but do not have to.

Correct! It's based on earnings. It was around 18,000 EUR per annum for a single person and circa 30,000 per couple when I left in 2016.
I reduced my working hours to keep below the threshold when my salary got too close to the margin because we got a bonus each year of approximately half of my monthly gross salary which would have pushed it over the top.

That old anetdote springs to mind; "they're all out of step but our Jonny"

It's not about Cyprus, it's about the UK failing to introduce controls on EU citizens accessing both medical and social benefits and you blaming the EU for that failure when it has nothing whatsoever to do with them.
You're moving the goalposts again.😉

Not correct, Cypriots with four children get free health card, Cypriots on low income get free health cards , all other Cypriots pay for health treatment/ operations etc etc ..Cypriot friend of ours had a gallbladder operation at Larnaca General, and he paid north of two thousand euros.

You live and learn. Perhaps something similar should be introduced in UK to relieve the burden on the NHS.

Notwithstanding this what Jim B said
it's about the UK failing to introduce controls on EU citizens accessing both medical and social benefits and you blaming the EU for that failure when it has nothing whatsoever to do with them.
is quite correct.

I hope not the Cypriot system is very unfair, you could be a multi millionaire with four kids and you get free health care, while others with three kids or less have to pay?

Yes, but my suggestion was meant as an example of how the UK could change the health care system to avoid that foreigners can get free rides. I thought the discussion was about the UK.
