Some people will get upset when treated like that.
Amos.
There is a difference between getting upset and assault!
Anyway, my purpose in posting that is because it specifically refers to a ban imposed by the republic on third-country nationals travelling to the occupied north of the island, which explains why the group referred to in the original post were refused.

Not necessarily. None of us know all the facts.

I was just commenting on the post from Band, that reported on the actions of the immigration at the airport!!
I just said that such actions would not surprisingly cause upset. I mean you fly into the country and get thrown out but no reason given.
Anyone would get upset, some very upset, others quite violent.
The point is reasons should/must be given.
If the report is inaccurate - don't blame me, I didn't make it.
Look, I started this thread to highlight that some of my fellow countrymen were been discriminated against at the airport.
I stand by that assertion. Some means just that, not all. I have had no problems myself either at the airport or at the immigration office to obtain residency.
Amos.

As reported your fellow countrymen are not being discriminated against, other nationality's have been sent back, Serbians, Lebanese and others, and some of the Israeli newspapers I have read on line, report that the Israeli authorities did in fact warn Israeli tourists about the possibility of being refused entry, I think if it was the other way round and it was Cypriots being violent to Israeli immigration officers, do you honestly think they would be treated with kid gloves?

Israeli Immigration officers would not refuse entry and/or deport someone without giving a reason.

I dont belive that the Cypriot Immigration officers , didnt tell the Israelis why they were being deported, they told the other nationality's the reason, what gain would the Cypriots have by not telling them? I think the Israelis got upset and are talking rubbish... as you/I were not present to witness what happened we dont know? and can only guess.

For WHL:
What you are now suggesting is that the various press reports of several incidents at the airport are inaccurate, and that SOME Israelis were not deported without being given a reason.
Listen, there is no smoke without fire - and it seems clear that SOME immigration officers say/do one thing and others something different.
Left hand and right hand.
Let us hope we have seen the end of such unfortunate incidents, which detract from the otherwise polite and efficient immigration service in Cyprus.
I am not aware of any similar incidents at Paphos airport.
Amos.

From what I have read the Israelis knew they weren't allowed to do what they were trying to do.
There is no excuse to getting violent with an official who is doing their job.

Amos we are going round in circles, ive witnessed many incidents in airports were passengers get angry and are rude to airport staff, overweight luggage/ told they cant take stuff in luggage/ delayed fights etc etc, no one likes having their holiday plans disrupted, as for Paphos, people wanting to go north, use Larnaca because its nearer and has more flights.

Another sweeping generalisation!
One would like to assume that immigration officers in any country would have to give reasons for refusal of entry.

We would like to think so, and until I read your post quoting a news report that 2 Israelis had been deported from Cyprus without any reason been given so did I.
Amos.

I know of people refused entry in Israel, held for long times and treated badly. Their crime was taking charity raised for a children’s centre in Gaza.

Depends how you read. I take it that no reason was given to the journalist when they followed up the story, not that they deported these two people without telling them why.

I have tried so hard not to go down that road.
Maybe this is a thread that should be in the political section?

I dNT want it to be political as I am aware of the sensitivities in Israel. I only replied to Amos’s assertion it doesn’t happen there.

It doesn't!
Those you mention were given a reason for their detention and subsequent deportation.
The mistake they made was not obtaining the necessary visa in advance of their journey.
That was the reason.
As I said in a previous post, if you or any other forum member wants to debate Israel etc please start a separate/new thread and I will be happy to participate, provided it doesn't develop into an ant-semetic thread!
Thank you.
Amos.

Amos you wernt there, so why are you 100% sure they were not told the reason they were being sent back?
